Commissioned by a forward-thinking private estate developer in collaboration with lyf by Ascott—a trailblazer in community-driven hospitality—this pioneering coliving hotel reimagines urban connectivity in the heart of Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur’s storied enclave of spice-scented alleys, colonial-era architecture, and vibrant Tamil-Muslim-Chinese symbiosis.
As design lead, I orchestrated a participatory charrette with lyf’s “community champions” and Brickfields’ stakeholders to ensure the project amplifies, rather than displaces, the neighborhood’s soul. Currently in schematic design, the hotel is poised to become a benchmark for culturally literate coliving in Southeast Asia.
