Nestled into a verdant hillside in Bangsar, Nancy Residence emerges as a contemplative two-story bungalow with a basement car porch, conceived for a retiree embracing the rhythms of her golden years. Designed for a client in her 60s—living with a caretaker and hosting her son during visits—the home distills quiet sophistication, blending understated forms with intimate spatial narratives tailored to her desire for tranquility and connection.
The architecture adopts a philosophy of “measured restraint”—a muted façade of soft earth tones and clean geometries dissolves into the hillside, redirecting focus inward to crafted moments of daily ritual. Every interior surface becomes a stage for light, texture, and curated views, transforming mundane routines into acts of mindfulness.

As architect at ZLG Design, I spearheaded this residence from concept to construction, navigating the site’s topographic challenges to create a home that feels both grounded and ethereal. Currently in progress, the bungalow embodies my approach to “tactile minimalism”—where humble materials (cast in-situ terrazzo floors) gain eloquence through precise detailing, and spatial sequences unfold with the quiet drama of a haiku.
